When Vaxxers Lose their F******* Minds

I have to say it’s feeling a lot like THE FRENCH REVOLUTION around the vaccine-autism issue these days.

Not really up on your history?

All you really need to know is that the French aristocrats who lost their heads in the Revolution were unbelievably blind to the reasonable calls for reform and engaged in monumentally stupid acts which ensured their complete destruction.

It’s one thing to be on the losing side of a fight. 

It’s another to know you’re losing. 

The white majority in South Africa knew they were losing to Nelson Mandela’s call for justice and they took actions which averted a catastrophe.  Even though the British ended up fighting a war with us, there were voices in England who thought that the whole affair was utter madness.  Eventually, their views prevailed.  Hell, even some Nazis could see where Hitler was leading them after D-Day and tried to change things by blowing him up.

But those Vaxxers, they’re an entire breed of STUPID unto themselves.

On the bonehead roll-call of history I think there are going to be two people topping the list, Peter Hotez, writing in The New York Times and Rachel Roberts writing for The Independent.

Deirde Imus Recommends YOU Read “INOCULATED!”

I have to say I feel like I’m making a LOT of new friends.

Okay, so maybe they’re not the kind of friends I’m used to having, the kind where I can get together with them on a moment’s notice, go out and see a movie with, or maybe play a round of golf, but I consider them friends nonetheless.

One of my new good friends is Deirdre Imus, the multiple New York Times bestselling author, President and Founder of The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center at Hackensack University in New Jersey, wife of radio superstar, Don Imus, co-founder of the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids (the only vegetarian cattle ranch for kids with cancer), and a regular guest on Imus in the Morning’s Blonde on Blonde and Psychos segment.

What has Deirdre Imus done recently to make herself my friend? 

Well, she has made my recent book, INOCULATED: How Science Lost its Soul in Autism, a “recommended reading” for her Environmental Health Center.  That’s quite an honor.  I consider anybody who takes such an action to publicize the scandal regarding vaccines and autism at the Centers for Disease Control, as alleged by whistle-blower, Dr. William Thompson, to be one of my very best friends, even if I have never laid eyes on them.

How the Vaccine-Autism War Ends…

I’ve handed out somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty copies of the DVD, “VAXXED: From Cover-up to Catastrophe,” the fine documentary by Dr. Andrew Wakefield, Del Bigtree, and Polly Tommey, about the allegations of CDC whistle-blower, Dr. William Thompson, and the allegation of a cover-up of research linking the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine to autism.

Usually this follows a predictable pattern, with me feeling like I’ve essentially thrown another DVD down the black hole of societal indifference.  But sometimes I’m surprised.

The Subtle Change…

This last week, one teacher (I’ll call her Darcy*) I’d given it to, returned it to me with a short note that simply said, “WOW!”  After school ended that day I called Darcy and said I wanted to know more.  She briefly told me she thought it was powerful, but then said she had to rush off, and we’d find some time later to talk about it.

The next day I stopped by her room and she had more time for me.  “Yeah, I thought it was really well-done,” she said, then proceeded to ask me some questions, such as whether I thought the issue would be fixed by breaking up the MMR shot into its individual components, or whether I thought that vaccines should be avoided entirely.

They were wonderful questions, and I struggled to answer them.  I confessed that a lot of my answers had a great deal of vagueness to them, but it wasn’t due to my lack of consideration of the issue.  The problem was the lack of good science done by our public health agencies.

I said that I believed breaking up the MMR vaccines into its individual components was SAFER, but couldn’t say it was SAFE.  As to the vaccine program itself, if you believe the authorities have lied about one portion of it, what makes you believe the rest of it has any validity?  It’s a little like saying you trust that drunk driver who smashed up his car with your kid in it on last Saturday, because it’s Monday, and he says he’s only a weekend drinker.

When it comes to the safety of children, I’m going to have to have a little more information than has presently been provided.  I told her I had a simple answer.  Get rid of the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, throw ALL the vaccines back into the regular civil justice system, then let the attorneys work on these cases for the next five years, and take another look.  Our justice system can handle vaccines fine.  The vaccines just need to be in the regular civil justice system, and not in the abomination called “Vaccine Court.”

It was then that our conversation took a deeper turn.  Darcy said, “Everything in that documentary is just like what happened to my nephew.”

I think Trump is Getting Ready to Punch Vaccine-Induced Autism in the Face!

I’ve been wanting to write this article for a long time.  I’ve been waiting years for the moment to arrive when the normal rules which govern human behavior begin to reassert themselves.

What do I mean by that?

I mean that when some child falls down a well and can’t immediately be rescued, the whole country stops, prays, and holds its collective breath until that child is rescued.  Have two crazed lunatics set off bombs at the Boston Marathon and the city will push itself to the very limits of endurance until the perpetrators are caught.  Our televisions are filled with images of sick children asking for money for the hospital which cares for them and we are moved.

Nothing even remotely similar happens for autism families. 

Our children have fallen down the well of neurological injury, and not only are we ignored, but we are actively attacked for saying that vaccines caused these injuries, and are doing so on a massive scale.

Years before Hillary Clinton used the expression, “basket of deplorables” we knew that was how the mercenary media, propped up by their pharma dollars, portrayed us to the public.

Our public health authorities and the pharmaceutical companies have blown apart the health of a generation of children and yet the public is strangely silent.  Instead, we who point out this carnage are depicted as the enemy.  Like the vassals of some totalitarian state, the public outrage is directed at those who simply point out the truth.

Our children are sick and nobody comes to our aid.

How to Stay Sane in an Insane World…

I never expected that this is what would become of my life.

I never expected that the boy who grew up on the fourteenth hole of Roundhill Country Club would become an activist against the pharmaceutical companies which are pursuing actions which might well lead to the wholesale destruction of our species.

It’s enough to ruin your whole day.

Like many activists who have fallen down this particular rabbit-hole, I have often found the immensity of what is at stake with vaccines to be over-whelming.  I can only look to historical examples, sometimes for inspiration, and others for what to avoid.

I think of nineteenth century Hungarian physician, Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis, who decades before the hygiene theory of health, had the presence of mind to notice that women who delivered their children with mid-wives had a much lower rate of death than women who had their children delivered by doctors.  Attempting to account for this discrepancy, he noted that the doctors of the day were often dissecting human cadavers, then were going straight to delivering.  Semmelweis thought that maybe something from those human cadavers was sticking around on the hands of those doctors.  Maybe they needed to wash their hands after doing a dissection.  What a revolutionary thought.

Who wants to read another autism book which will just make me feel bad and overwhelmed, you might ask? 

I didn’t write this book to make you feel hopeless.  I wrote this book to make you feel empowered.  I want you to know how fragile our enemy is and how close we are to a cure for this terrible diseases, even for the older children like my daughter who seem so far from hope.  I GUARANTEE you that my book is a POSITIVE force for GOOD that can lead us to VICTORY if only enough people buy it, read it, and figure out how to take ACTION.

As we approach the beginning of 2017, the autism epidemic rages on unhindered and unnoticed by the Federal Government. In the early 1980s the incidence of autism was about 1 in 10,000. Now, it is 1 in 45, and continuing to grow at an exponential pace. I was first exposed to the autism epidemic in the late 2000s and heard recurring accounts of children regressing into the condition following one or more of their infant vaccines. To respond to this tragedy that so many families were and still are facing, I formed Focus Autism in 2009. The controversies surrounding the cause of the autism epidemic are many and the U.S. government’s response is woeful at best.

Something Strange is Happening on the Radio…

We autism parents have all been there.  You know what I’m talking about.  Your child was normally developing, they got their vaccinations, and then everything started to go very wrong.

They say when terrible things happen to human beings we need to talk about it, to process what has taken place.  You get into a car accident, and for the next few months you’ll talk about it to just about anybody who will listen.  The trauma begins to recede and you can move onto the next phase of your life, whatever that may entail.

But nothing even remotely similar to that has taken place for autism parents.  It is as if we have been in a horrific car accident, but when we go to talk about it, people tell us there are no such things as cars.

Like many of you, I have had to endure the same response from family and friends.  Perhaps it is my overly optimistic nature, but I kept thinking there had to be a way to get people to listen.  I may have a law degree, but not a medical one.  But lawyers are the ones putting doctors on the stand, and when the evidence warrants, making them pay for their mistakes.  If the evidence is overwhelming enough, we even charge them criminally and prosecute them.  I think that’s what I do in my new book, INOCULATED: How Science Lost its Soul in Autism, now available on Amazon.

The Reality of “Science…”

I mean, seriously, over the years, science hasn’t really had a good track record when it comes to social policy.  At the beginning of the last century they were all over the idea of eugenics, giving rise to the crimes of Nazi Germany, then they really liked electro-shock treatment for mental problems, as well as forced sterilization, and hey, even in my life-time the American Psychological Association declared that being gay was a “mental disorder.”

In 2012 I started putting together a book, PLAGUE, with Dr. Judy Mikovits, that used her research published in the journal Science, to argue that an HIV-like retrovirus (originally found in mice, but which had somehow jumped to humans) might be causing the body to overreact in some people and trigger conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and autism.  The scenario would go something like this: scientists know the HIV retrovirus hangs out in the cells of the immune system, so any attempt to stimulate the immune system could cause the HIV retrovirus to replicate out of control and cause disease.  That’s why babies born to HIV-infected mothers are IMMEDIATELY put on anti-retrovirals, PRIOR to ANY vaccination.  The concern was also raised in the book that the virus had jumped from mice to humans during vaccine production as mice tissue was used to grow and weaken many of the viruses later used in vaccines.  One might say I’d argued for a vaccine two-fer.  Vaccines not only transferred the retrovirus to humans which had caused the problem, but continued stimulation of the immune system was causing this retrovirus to rampage out of control.

I really thought I’d threaded a needle, creating a plausible explanation for the scientific community which would explain why a vaccination might trigger autism in some children, and hopefully lead to a productive discussion.

Since then I’ve been on radio shows in Boston, MA (Frankie Boyer’s Holistic Talk Radio), Pittsburg, PA (Hank Baughman show), New York, NY (Dirty, Sexy Funny with Jenny McCarthy on Sirius XM radio), Phoenix, AZ (the fiery libertarian, Ernie Hancock), Palm Springs, CA (Law of Attraction Radio with Jewels Johnson), and even laid back, Santa Cruz, CA (Food Chain Radio with Michael Olson).

And more coming…

I’m currently scheduled for approximately forty-five radio shows with another twenty shows trying to figure out a time I’m available.

Why am I getting all this attention for a controversy, vaccines and autism, that’s supposed to be “settled science?”  Maybe it’s because in the summer of 2014 a senior CDC scientist, Dr. William Thompson, turned over more than ten thousand documents to the office of Congressman William Posey, alleging that in the early 2000s the CDC investigated claims of the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine being linked to autism, and found that there was a link.

Trump Meets Dr. Wakefield

Even though you see the headline, and the photo, you don’t believe it, do you?

Could the new President-Elect of our country, Donald J. Trump, have really met with Dr. Andrew Wakefield?  You’ve probably heard the rumors, maybe you’ve even seen the video of Wakefield saying that Trump understands our concerns and will never allow mandatory vaccinations.  He goes onto say that he believes Trump will investigate the problems at the CDC, including the allegations of Dr. William Thompson.

It’s all true…

How do I know?

Because I interviewed two people who were at that meeting.  Do you want facts?  It took place on August 11, 2016 in Kissimmee, Florida and lasting a little under an hour from four to five in the afternoon.

INOCULATED – An Exclusive “Sneak Peek” for Readers of The Bolen Report…

I owe a genuine debt of gratitude to the readers of The Bolen Report.  It’s one thing to put a book together, but it’s quite another thing to figure out the best strategy to get that story out to the public. 

I’m probably not alone in being frustrated by the glacial pace of traditional publishing.  My agent had started pitching my new book, INOCULATED: How Science Lost its Soul in Autism, back in February, and although there was some interest, nothing was on the table.  Even if some publisher bit in the summer, the book probably wouldn’t be available to the public until 2018.  That was too long for me.

My agent told me that her agency had its own publishing division and if I wanted, I could publish with them.  But I wouldn’t have the big marketing push of a traditional publisher.  That was fine with me, as I had always considered this something of a guerilla campaign.  We could get it out to the public very quickly.   But I wanted to know if that was the right way to go and so I put this question to the readers of The Bolen Report.

Your responses were informed, passionate, well-reasoned, and I listened.  I’ve always had this sense that the book should be published in November of 2016, either before or after the Presidential election, and right now the publishing date is Wednesday, November 9.  And hopefully by now Amazon has updated the listing so you see the picture of my beautiful cover and a summary of the book.  And I’ve hired a first-rate marketing team.  We’re going to knock this one out of the park.

But I felt I should do more to express my gratitude to the readers of The Bolen Report, so I’m giving you an exclusive “sneak peek” at the first few pages.  I want you to know I really do mean to start a rebellion.  I also want to express my personal appreciation to Tim Bolen for his suggestions about the book and publicity.  He is a man who knows how to think, strategize, and fight.

My America…

Can fifty people in a bookstore on a Saturday night change a person’s opinion on the fate of our country?

I’ve been an autism advocate for fifteen years now, written more than 250 articles on various facets of the disease across many different web-sites about:

(1)  the refusal of our research community to do any meaningful science which would change people’s lives, and

(2)  the near-universal silence from the public on asking the vital question of why so many people are sick in the most highly-advanced society the world has ever known.

I even wrote a book with a twenty year government scientist, Dr. Judy Mikovits, who has published more than fifty peer-reviewed articles in the world’s top scientific journals and was head of the Anti-Viral Drug Mechanisms lab at the National Cancer Institute.

That book, PLAGUE: One Scientist’s Intrepid Search for the Truth About Human Retroviruses, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Autism, and Other Diseases, was published in November of 2014, nearly two years ago.

The response from the public has been wonderful.

Have any of you felt the same way as you’ve tried to book a showing of VAXXED: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe in your hometown or support a screening that somebody had already set up?

I think the most disappointing of the group was a friend who is a fellow attorney and not only did we go to high school, college, AND law school together, but this friend is such a bleeding heart that I don’t think there has been a single injustice over the past thirty-five years that he has not expressed an outrage about.  However, it seems that I am the exception.

I have been astounded by the response of some long-time friends who when I say, “Hey, there’s this documentary about a whistle-blower at the CDC and the cover-up of the link between vaccines and autism, do you want to come and see it?”  They act like I’m denying the existence of God.  No, scratch that.  If I asked them to come to a movie about an atheist, I’d get a better response.  In very poignant emails back to me they have said that they will not even put at risk their “fugitive and cloistered virtue” (to steal from the poet, John Milton) by exposing themselves to the possibility that the government is lying to them.

“Science” and the Causes of Autism…

Let’s talk about “science.”

You know what “science” is, don’t you?  It’s that magical, talismanic word that settles any bar bet with the same type of certainty that in the middle ages any priest could use by saying, “That’s not what it says in the Bible.”

However, any person who has spent even the slightest bit of time in Bible studies knows that there is a rich intellectual tradition and that the interpretation of the words of the Bible, considering cultural traditions at the time, as well as the different and imprecise translations of words and concepts, can take up a lifetime.  Just as any Talmudic scholar.

My point is that any person who wants to settle an argument by saying “it’s science” or “That’s not what it says in the Bible” is probably a moron and you should probably find another place to sit in the bar. Continue reading “Science” and the Causes of Autism…

The Coming War and its Aftermath…

I’ve been thinking a great deal about the fight against SB 277 and mandatory vaccinations in California as well as the fabulous documentary, VAXXED: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe, detailing the corruption in the CDC’s vaccine program and the revelations of senior CDC scientist, Dr. William Thompson.

I find myself asking a simple question again and again: How do I become the most effective agent for change?

Recently I ran across a quote from one of my long-time idols, Nelson Mandela, and it spoke to what I’m feeling these days.  Mandela wrote: “As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I’d still be in prison.”

After fifteen years of advocacy, one would expect that those I love so deeply would have at least understood my position, but it appears not to be the case.  As I have attempted to gather an audience for a showing of the documentary film, VAXXED, I have been surprised by the response of two people from whom I had expected better. What Did President Reagan Think About “Vaccine Court?”

It’s always been a mystery to me how President Reagan, generally known for his suspicion of unchecked governmental power, could have signed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which established the so-called “Vaccine Court.”  To the parents of many children with autism, this legislation is the direct cause of the autism epidemic.

While researching my new book, INOCULATED: How Science Lost Its Soul in Autism, I came across the answer in the pages of the New York Times.  (Full disclosure – In my younger days I was a “Youth Delegate for Reagan” to the 1984 Republican Convention in Dallas.  Forgive me.  I was young and foolish.)  In an article by Robert Pear, which was published on November 15, 1986, in the New York Times entitled, “Reagan Signs Bill on Drug Exports and Payment for Vaccine Injuries,” (and easily accessible through a simple Google search), Reagan laid out his thoughts. What’s REALLY going On In The Autism/Vaccine World…

People make choices – what they will see and what will remain invisible to them.  Like the character, Neo, played by Keeanu Reeves in The Matrix, we are often given the choice to take the blue pill or the red pill.  The blue pill allows you to remain in your safe little world.  Taking the red pill, well, that opens a Pandora’s Box.

For me, that moment came when my normally developing eighteen-month-old son, Ben, went mute after his vaccinations.   His sister, Jacqueline already had autism and seizures, which we later linked to her six-month round of shots.  With her, we didn’t know.  With Ben, it was absolutely clear what had happened.  Ben was my red pill.  After putting him on the gluten/casein free diet he came back to us.  My daughter is still very severely impaired.  Because of my children, I became a warrior.

In 2009 I stumbled across an interview Dr. Judy Mikovits had given in a television show in Nevada called Nevada Newsmakers.  Mikovits was talking about the publication of her article in the journal Science which showed that a recently discovered retrovirus, XMRV (xenotropic murine leukemia virus related virus) had been found in 67% of chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) patients and at 3.75% in healthy patients.

Then she started talking about a potential link to autism, as they had done some early research into the question.
