Opinion by Consumer Advocate Tim Bolen
Things couldn’t have seemed rosier for Big Pharma last January, 2011. Dismayed as they were at failed attempts to stave off financial losses from upcoming patent-run-outs, the situation, at least in the vaccine program, was nicely going to generate tons of gold bullion, satchels of emeralds, and shiploads of cash in ever increasing amounts – more than enough to keep those CEO and top executive annual bonuses rolling in. Boards of Directors, and Common Stock Financial Fund Managers were all friendly – warm and fuzzy.
Then on January 27th, 2011 the bottom dropped out of their world. Suddenly, with virtually no warning, the entire “Vaccine Construction” so carefully constructed, so snickered over in Boardrooms, was, not only at risk, but was likely to come crashing down. Mark and David Geier, accompanied by Lisa Sykes showed up, information packets in hand, at the second United Nations Environment Programme – Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to prepare a global legally binding instrument on Mercury (INC2). CoMeD, their anti-mercury in medicine organization, had been accepted by the UN as a Non Government Organization (NGO), an official delegate to the UN program.
The drug lords, and their under-minion’s, gasping began…
By the end of the conference the “Thimerosal in Vaccine” issue was part of the UN agenda.
For Big Pharma leadership, breathing became difficult.
Within a week realization of the damage was, no doubt, being discussed as the primary issue in the world of drug lords. Never before had such a situation happened. I imagine that drug CEOs were scrambling, trying to calm Boards of Directors down, phone calls to investment funds were no doubt constant, with assurances that all would be well falling on doubting ears.
As we know, the first round of retaliation occurred in early February, 2011, when one of Pharma’s top public sector flunkies Joshua F. Scharfstein, the recently appointed head of the Maryland Department of Health, allowed his department to file an emergency complaint against Mark Geier MD, ordering a “Summary Suspension” of his Maryland Medical License, claiming he was a “danger to the public.” Then, shortly thereafter, they filed charges against David Geier, falsely claiming that he was “practicing medicine without a license.” You can read the details of that by clicking here.
Then of course, the infamous “Skeptics” leaped into the fray, bombarding the internet with their fake portrayals of “scientific commentary,” acting, I suspect, on behalf of their Big Pharma paymasters. They bombarded the internet, acting to “Google Bomb” the search engines, bringing their crap articles to the first pages of search engines so as to make it appear to the public, especially news media and government agencies, that overwhelming public opinion was against the Geiers – when, in fact, it was not. You can read about some of that by clicking here. Then, if you want a more inclusive picture of the “Skeptic” organization click here.
But things began to happen – and not what Big Pharma, and their under-minions, expected. The United Nations mercury conference leadership DID NOT buy into the usual bullcrap, and, instead, as Big Pharma and their beholden under-minions had hoped, the UN did not revoke CoMeds NGO status – and, instead, very obviously, and with much fanfare, re-invited the team to participate in a big, big, way in conference number three in Nairobi, Kenya October 31, 2011 through November 4th, 2011. You can read about that by clicking here.
Those “Packets” that CoMeD gave out…
Big Pharma must have thought that those original packets contained the social equivalent to Napalm. In fact, they did. For within them was a myriad of information, particularly about the falsehoods the “Vaccine Construction,” led primarily by employees of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), had circulated to most governments outside of the US about the safety and quality of vaccines. There were two outright lies: (1) CDC had pedaled the story that “Thimerosal had been completely removed from childhood vaccines,” when, in fact, it had ONLY been removed from US and Canadian supplies (3.8% of the world supply), and (2) that Thimerosal had been found to be safe and effective as a preservative in vaccines, and was “not related to Autism,” when, in fact, the CDC knew the opposite to be true, and covered that information up. The Battle on the African continent…
(Start smiling)…
As I said in my last article:
(1) On the first day of the United Nations Environment Programme – Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to prepare a global legally binding instrument on Mercury (INC3) being held in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa, the African Delegation, representing fifty four (54) of the one hundred fifty (150) total delegates rose and spoke to the Assembly stating EMPHATICALLY that they don’t care a wit about the WHO recommendations, nor the US CDC positions on Thimerosal in vaccines, they want a word wide ban on Thimerosal (mercury) in vaccines right now.
And then it got worse. Apparently, Big Pharma, and their public sector under-minions, ONLY have significant influence within the borders of the United States, and, sometimes, Canada. Obviously, the continent of Africa, is not impressed with CDC dictum – probably for continuous good reason. Maybe they don’t like Big Pharma dumping other countries’ rejected vaccines on them? Ya think?
So, Big Pharma brought in the heavy artillery to “straighten out” those third world countries (snort), in the form of two heavy duty, authoritative, speakers – one from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the other from the World Health Organization (WHO) – both women, who, as described by observers, gave new meaning to the description “arrogant and imperious.”
Both WHO and the FDA, in essence, arrogantly informed the treaty delegation that “Health Care was none of their business, and they were to immediately drop the discussion of Thimerosal from their UN agenda…” Both representatives made it abundantly clear that, in their opinion, “the UN delegates discussing mercury issues were NOT qualified to decide, or even discuss the Thimerosal issue.”
After that, both the Arab, and the Central/South American Delegations invited CoMeD to meet with them privately – which they did.
The Bottom Line…
Neither the WHO, the CDC, nor the FDA fared well after those presentations. Perfect.
The “Thimerosal in Vaccines” issue is safely, and snugly, ensconced in the UN treaty language.
Go ahead and laugh out loud…
Stay tuned…
