Janet Kern PhD – Dr. Kern is a neuroscientist and researcher who has conducted clinical research in children and adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disorders, such as tic disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and developmental delay, for the last 20 years.
She has over 70 peer-reviewed scientific research publications and is a member of the American College of Epidemiology. The main focus of her research is in biomarkers of susceptibility, oxidative stress, neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, toxicity, risk factors in ASD, and brain changes related to mercury in neurodevelopmental disorders.
Dr. Kern was one of the first researchers to show a relationship between mercury body-burden and autism severity.
Her research also includes several treatment studies that examined the effectiveness of developmental interventions, medications, and nutraceuticals in ASD, such as DMG, secretin, Immunocal, equine-assisted activities, oral and transdermal glutathione, carnitine, and PlayWisely. She also has extensive experience in the medical field.
