Big Pharma Gives Doctors a Lap Dance, but “WE” All Get Screwed…

Did you hear about the conviction of John Kapoor, the former chairman of the drug-maker, Insys Therapeutics?

Is this what Trump has in mind for ALL of  Big Pharma?  Let’s hope so…

Here’s the link from Yahoo News if you want to read the full article.  I’ll hit the high and low points.

By Kent Heckenlively, JD.

The first paragraph of the article says:

“The founder of Insys Tereapuetics, Inc on Thursday became the highest-ranking drug-maker executive tied to the U.S. opioid crisis, when he and four colleagues were found guilty of bribing doctors to prescribe an addictive painkiller, helping to drive the epidemic.”

Okay, sounds bad enough, right?  How about this next section where they discuss how the drug was supposed to be prescribed only to cancer patients?

“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Subsys in 2012 only for use in treating severe cancer pain. Yet prosecutors claimed doctors who took bribes often prescribed Subsys to patients without cancer, helping boost sales for Chandler, Arizona-based Insys.”

Fentanyl is an especially potent opioid, 100 times stronger than morphine.

Kapoor’s lawyers acknowledged Insys paid doctors but contended he believed they were being legally paid to discuss Subsys’ benefits.”

Now it starts to sound really bad.

One of the four defendants along with Kapoor was named Sunrise Lee. That’s her, fully dressed today, in the photo at the top of this article.

Okay, got that name?  Sunrise Lee. She was a Regional Sales Director.  Sunrise Lee was also a former stripper, and gave one of the the doctors a lap dance as she tried to persuade him to prescribe the drug to his patients.

That’s in addition to the executive dressed up as a dancing bottle of Fentanyl – as shown below.  (If I was a fiction writer, people would claim my plots were too far-fetched!)

From Yahoo News:

“Burlakoff, Insys’ ex-vice president of sales, and Michael Babich, its former chief executive, testified against Kapoor after pleading guilty to participating in the scheme.

Jurors during the trial watched a rap video Insys produced for its sales staff describing its strategies that starred Burlakoff dressed as a dancing bottle of Subsys.

Witnesses also testified that Lee, an ex-stripper turned Insys regional sales director, gave a lap dance to a doctor at a Chicago club while pushing him to prescribe Subsys.”

They say that to those who feel life is a tragedy and to those who think it’s a comedy.

There is no joke as to what the opioid epidemic has done to tens of thousands of people.

And yet at the same time, I can’t get out of my mind the image of a regional sales director for a pharmaceutical company giving a lap dance to a doctor as she goes over the virtues of her product.

It kind of makes me think Sunrise Lee needs to go back to her old job as a stripper where she could at least have some measure of self-respect…

How is it that Big Pharma still has such a good reputation among the public and we, the “Anti-Vaxxers” are the crazy ones?

Smile…

  1. Big Pharma, I think, is beginning to realize what Trump has in mind for every one of them.

There’s an old saying, originated by Ralph Waldo Emerson: ““When you strike at a King, you must kill him.”

Big Pharma, using their TOTAL CONTROL of the liberal media tried VERY HARD to try to topple the King.

They didn’t get the job done.

Now the King is looking very hard at THEM, and the Prosecutions have begun…

    All Hail the King…

    Long Live the King…

  2. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,
and what about the doctor who received the lap dance. She could lap dance me all night but there’s still no way I’m giving a highly addictive opiod to my patients instead of healing them.

What does he have to say for himself?

    Blessed be

    Karma

  3. Well Karma, that lap-danced doctor, would brag that at least he held out compared to the rest, who fell for the usual simple ego-boosting offer to be advertised as a ‘thought leader’ at the next big medical convention, and all they’d have to do is deliver a ‘thought provoking’ [aka advertising lingo for lying about the product] presentation, all glamourously glitzied up with what appeared to be research data, as if he’d done it, further inflating possibilities for their ego…. not to mention the paid trip, likely…

Don’t you wonder how many MDs are wondering if they should print a statement on their prescription pad saying they were not ‘thought leaders’ ever nor wanna-be-paids… or worse thinking their patients could be viewing them as such corrupt drug-pushers………. just gotta circulate this beaut of a story, recognizing that it still has potential at the appeal judgment… ttyl

  4. Resolving the vaccine crisis may prove more difficult than resolving the opioid crisis. I favor arresting Poul Thorsen, which is technically easy. The hard part is getting the do-nothing Department of Justice to move. Arresting Thorsen would probably lead to many billions in autism liability, but it would be preferable to the destruction of the USA as we know it, which is where we’re heading

  5. I don’t have a clear understanding of the federal court system and just who has gone after Insys. I know there are state AGs that trying to hold drug makers accountable for as much as they can for the opioid crisis, but that has nothing to do with what “Trump has in his mind”. Better to emphasize how the FDA worked hand in glove to create the opioid epidemic.

  6. As for the FDA working hand-in-glove with criminal racketeers, while the states are suing in their own cases.. does it make you wonder, if this *particular* bunch of racketeers was selected because their case allowed the FDA to look ‘clean’ as having put *restrictions* on the drug, but the evil pushers swept those *PROTECTORS* aside… so did the FDA HAND these extras over for prosecution to the DOJ as show trial to clean up the FDA image in these progressing battles… or why did this case make it, while the whole scene of chemo, vaxxes and other opioids walk for now?

But even then while looking like ‘protectors’. does it seem somehow revealing that the ‘patients’ the FDA were content to sacrifice were the beleaguered CANCER patients… does that sweep the poor cancer failures under the rug more quietly and hide the empty handed impotence of the power-bragging drug companies? At the very least it surely shows that they openly recognize that useful-but-embarrassing impotence and disgustingly designate the poor people who trusted their drugs and pushers as ripe targets for ONE LAST PROFIT since they’ve gotten as much out of them as they can figure….. it’s so exhausting to realize their perfidy.. AGREED?
